Yeca
Yeca
The new score for Oboe, English horn and bassoon has been published by Cayambis Music Press – Latin American Classical Sheet Edition.
The title of this three-movement work comes from the Lunfardo term for the Spanish word calle (street). One of the features of Lunfardo, which is a dialect that developed among the lower classes of Buenos Aires and Montevideo during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, is to reverse the normal order of syllables in a word, which is known as vesre. Hence, calle (a word in which the double “l” has a “y” sound) turns into yeca.
